This
Burny had been in a few times. It's owned by a local band
here who tours a lot and Dan just seems to keep breaking it.
If it wasn't one of THE BEST LP's I've ever played, I would
say it's time to give it up, but this guitar is awesome and
worth the effort.
So I set about
getting the headstock back on first. This headstock has been
off a few times and this break was not good.
As you can see, there were scars everywhere from previous
repairs and the whole area is just a mess.
With the headstock back on it was time to get rid of the
shattered laminate and start work on reinforcing the breaks
so it was strong enough to handle the constant touring.
This guitar has identical construction and timber to a real
Gibson Les Paul and as such has all the same "faults"
as a real one.
As any guitar repairer and they'll tell you they spend a
lot of time gluing Gibson headstocks back on....
