BIG WILLY

This was built for a friend of mine who had always wanted a custom guitar, made just the way he wanted a guitar to be.

He's a Tele player through and through, so we started there. He likes a thinline, and he plays blues, so a P-90 in the neck seemed sensible.

The one in the pictures is what we finished up with. It's a kind of thinline Tele, with Tele bridge and pick up, to give him the "spank". The middle pick up is a Strat to give him the "middle" sound and of course, the P-90 for the FAT blues tone. 25.5" scale neck with custom logo and through body stringing.

The bound carved top body is a basswood back hollowed out all the way around from horn to horn with two piece rosewood top. It's shape is the bottom half of a Tele flipped and added to the top.

The maple bolt on neck is off one of his old Teles (I didn't copy that headstock Fender) to give the Tele feel he wanted.

The pick ups are all Seymour Duncan vintage series and sound, as always, awesome.

The bridge is, of course Tele with a 5 way switch and push/pull pots for all the options.

And because I can't leave well enough alone, yes, the F holes are backwards...........

This was custom made for a friend, so it's unlikely I'll be making more, but something "similar" may turn up on these pages one day for sale ?
