Vibratone AL

Here's one of my favorite shapes in a prototype I made for myself and used for several years live. I think this upside down Jagstang shape just works so well.

It has my completely hand made second version aluminium neck which was still a little heavy, but worked well and was a sign of things to come. It's this hollow headstock version that inspired me to carry on with designing and making aluminium necks.

My aluminium necks differ from most in that it is almost a standard bolt on type neck as apposed to semi through necks like Travis Bean.

This one is a prototype and the only one that will be made.

The mahogany body is very thin like an SG and is very light and resonant.

The ultra thin aluminium neck is designed and made by me at the workshop here and then cast in aluminium. The neck is hollow with a web running up the middle for strength and for something for the fretboard to attach to.

The headstock is hollowed out to save weight, although the third type neck is more hollowed still.

The neck is very narrow and thin, like a Mosrite neck and still has more than enough strength for my 13-56's I use on my guitars.

The pick ups are Seymour Duncan vintage P-90's. I'm a huge fan of P-90's for their power and punch with more focus than a humbucker.

The standard tune-o-matic and stop tailpiece are good for intonation and stability.

This guitar also has a built in microamp/boost circuit engaged by the little toggle switch near the control pots.

The Vibratone standard and deluxe are a model I make a few of and is essentially the same guitar without the aluminium neck with many other options. Keep an eye on these pages for any that become available.
