This Joe Maphis model is getting very close to the first Ventures models. There's still some notable variations like the non angled neck end and the "bound" headstock.

This guitar has been refinished but is still a vital link from the Maphis to the Ventures model.

This double neck was made for Bob Maphis (Joe's brother) in 1963. Again it has all the hardware and pick ups of what is about to come. The Ventures model.
